I won the Bodil Award for Best Actress for my part in that, and it was then that I decided to apply for theatre school [Statens Teaterskole, the Danish National School of Theatre] and luckily enough I got in first time round. People knew who I was by then, but I was so interested in the craft of acting that I just wanted to knuckle down and learn for four years. I knew that starting in films can be quite easy and I wanted to challenge myself to do more and learn theatre as well. That’s always been my mantra: to do what I’m not very good at.
