Only a quarter of those sampled thought they would get a better holiday by booking with such a professional, and less than a third felt that professionals were likely even to have been to the destination they were giving advice about. Abta admits "there's scope for improvement", but said there are "plenty of brilliant agents and operators who know the destinations they sell like the back of their hands and have customers who keep coming back".
